Venise Verte:  To the north of La Lemière lies the large area known as the Venise Verte (sometimes called Green Venice) with its wonderful wildlife and waterways. Royan & Zoo:  To the south of La Lemière is the popular resort of Royan with nearby pine forests and surfing beaches. A short distance from Royan is Palmyre Zoo, one of the largest in Europe, with many exotic species in a carefully planned environment. www.zoo-palmyre.fr/

Islands:  The beautiful off-shore islands of Ré and Oléron are easily reached by bridges from the mainland and offer many holiday activities for the whole family. Water Facilities: Surgeres and the nearby village of Vandre offer open-air swimming pools. The picturesque town of St Savinien on the river Charente is a 15 min drive. It has excellent water facilities including an open-air swimming pool with flumes and a lake with sailing boats for hire. Maritime History:  Rochefort (20mins) has much to offer including the Corderie Royale, the longest building in Europe.
