Most of our visitors come with a relaxing holiday in mind and hope to soak up the sun, wine and French atmosphere! However, each year, we find several families are seriously thinking of moving to France.   The success of programmes like "A Place in the Sun" has helped many to consider that moving to another country is a realistic proposition.    There are many good reasons for moving to France - better weather, superb health system, transport and road systems, friendly people, food and drink, etc.   However, there are always pros and cons.     Will you be happy leaving family in the UK, do you have sufficient language to survive here, do you have enough income to be able to stay in France etc?

We bought our house in 1995 and moved here after Paul's early retirement from teaching in 1997.   We have done much renovation work and our first gite was up and running for the summer of 1999.   We have welcomed many visitors to La Lemiere during this period and are pleased to have helped visitors with their questions about moving to France.  Five families have bought houses whilst staying in our gites.    

We are not involved in the buying and selling of properties, and we are not experts who know all the answers but we have tried to do everything necessary to fit into the French administration and life-style.    If we can offer any advice or assistance we are more than happy to chat with our visitors, preferably over a glass of wine!
