La
Lemière Our self catering accommodation is in the charming hamlet of La Lemière in the Charente Maritime surrounded by sunflowers, cornfields and wild hedgerows. The area, in gently undulating countryside, has its own micro-climate, giving it almost as many sunshine hours as the Mediterranean resorts in the south of France. The hamlet benefits from no through traffic, making it peaceful and very safe for children yet it is just off the D114 between the villages of Vandré and Genouillé. Vandré has a baker and both villages have a butcher, bar/tabac and post office. Vandré also has an open-air swimming pool and there is a very pretty fishing lake set in a large area of parkland in Genouillé. Other nearby villages have their own cafes and restaurants offering reasonably priced four-course lunches and evening meals. Surgères The flourishing and picturesque market town of Surgères is a 10-minute drive away. |
